Requirements

  • Proficient in all knowledge, skills, and abilities of a Shop Technician I and II.
  • Skilled in multiple areas of the shop; wood, paint, metal fabrication, and CNC.
  • Can multi-task.
  • Attention to detail and has a commitment to Quality.
  • Understands and employs a Safety-First approach.
  • Strong computer skills including document creation and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to perform efficiently with little supervision, self-directed.
  • Technical school degree in Fabrication, Woodworking, or Equivalent on the job experience.
  • 5 or more years work experience in a custom fabrication shop, maintenance shop, or similar industry.
  • 3 or more years of management and leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Must be proficient in all essential duties and responsibilities of a Shop Technician I and II.
  • Stands in and performs the necessary duties within the shop when employees are on vacation, sick, or have scheduled time off.
  • Owns safety report outs and cascades information as well as steps to take to address problem/solutions.
  • Primary Sales and Marketing Department contact.
  • Obtains concept approval from Founders/Marketing Director/Engineering Director prior to starting/assigning fabrication projects.
  • Communication to management on important issues and monthly manager meetings.
  • Oversight over production planning, logistics, worklist schedule, shifts in priorities.
  • Holds meetings and delegates job tasks and key projects to the shop team daily/weekly/monthly and assists when needed to avoid any time delays.
  • Procurement coordinator: contacts vendors, accounts for lead times, and expedites as necessary. Lead in setting up contracts, negotiate pricing, and coordination.
  • Head of scoping jobs and assesses key components needed for every future job; schedule, cost, manpower, procurement, execution, logistics for delivery.
  • Responsible for Shop Labor Management including payroll approvals, overtime, and budget adherence.
  • Responsible for all Funk House facilities and Shop Management duties in addition to everything described herein.
  • Promotes innovative thinking with team members to get quality work done in a timely manner safely and provides a sense of motivation.
  • Provide performance feedback, skills assessments, target appraisals and statistical reports. Monthly one to one review and meetings with Shop employees.
  • Manages work list and schedules manpower, priorities, vendors, and internal/external stakeholder expectations.
  • Ensures that shop is adhering to WWB standards (safety, quality/workmanship, timelines).
  • Manages 5+ direct reports where they are to inspire, motivate, engage, coach, and lead the Shop team. Accountable for employee target cascade and appraisal process as well as employee skills assessments, monthly 1 to 1’s, and annual merit cycle.
  • Lead daily team standup meetings; safety, work list assignments and priorities, and open forum.
  • Performs quarterly 5S audits and Continuous Improvement walk throughs.
  • Willingness to assist other departments when necessary.
  • Owns Shop S&M Budget and coordinates with CCO, Engineering Director and Founders for key decisions that need to be made.
  • Ability to approve invoicing weekly, create RFP’s for new vendors and competitively bid against existing vendors, and adhere to a monthly budget.
  • Maintains all shop equipment and tools, in addition to shop vehicles and trailer equipment.
  • Completing computer-based work, as required to fulfill job or department duties.
  • Ability to work in every area of the shop to ensure team remains on schedule.
  • Coordinates KPI’s and metric tracking and then reports out weekly to senior management; i.e. % complete on time, monthly budget vs. actual, overtime tracking, % projects at risk, etc.
  • Vendors management, sourcing new suppliers, and coordination.
  • Ability to schedule shop fleet maintenance, vehicle registration, and helps with setting up delivery options whether internal or external.
  • Travel when necessary to execute buildouts and Marketing demands.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA or BS degree in a relevant field preferred
  • Ability to attain Green Belt
