Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • Level 5: 14+ years of work-related experience with a Bachelors degree OR 12+ years of work-related experience with a Masters Degree OR 9+ years of work-related experience with a PhD.
  • Level 6: 20+ years of work-related experience with a Bachelors degree OR 18+ years work-related experience with a Masters degree OR 15+ years of work-related experience with a PhD
  • Experience leading projects and/or teams
  • Experience with equivalent strength and salvage philosophy
  • Experience using Breakout and Global FEMs
  • Experience in airframe structural analysis of metallic and composite structure
  • Experience in Airworthiness Certification (AWC)
  • Experience in fatigue and fracture mechanics.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and organizes structural analysis work at the program level to assure total compliance with structural integrity and stability requirements.
  • Subject matter expert (SME) in airframe structural analysis including metallic and composite structure, linear and non-linear geometric and material analyses, stability and fatigue, Finite element modeling (FEM), and an understanding of equivalent strength and salvage philosophy.
  • Coordinate with Mission Assurance in support of Safety of Flight (SoF) determinations.
  • Working knowledge of the Airworthiness Certification process including Mil HNDK-516C, specifically section 5 and its criteria, standards and methods of compliance.
  • Working knowledge of fatigue and fracture mechanics including Crack growth and Crack initiation, Spectrum development, Material characterization, Full scale fatigue test, and Aircraft Structural Integrity Program requirements per MIL-STD-1530.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • 14+ years’ experience with development and/or production programs
  • 5+ years’ experience working with military customers and stakeholders to develop the Structural Certification Plan, criteria, verification and validation efforts
  • 3+ years’ experience working with Mission Assurance in support of SoF determinations
  • 1+ years’ experience leading and applying RCCA processes to engineering development and manufacturing/production efforts
  • 1+ years’ experience with Engineering proposals and execution.
