Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science/management or related discipline; Advanced degree preferred
- Minimum of 7 years industry experience in the field of environmental management and leadership. Distribution Center/Warehousing and DOT Transportation focus preferred
- Industry credentialing such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
- Subject matter expert level of knowledge of 40 CFR EPA requirements including CWA, SPCC, CAA, RCRA state/local specific programs such as California’s CalEPA and SCAQMD
- Maintain an effective balance of technical writing and creativity / communication to create highly refined work products for nationwide facility use / implementation
- Ability to effectively interact and communicate at all levels of the organization and influence without authority
- Proficient with digital safety management systems, Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook email
Responsibilities
- Ensure the effective implementation of company Environmental Management Programs across the enterprise including regional distribution centers and transportation delivery operations
- Manage and execute enterprise-wide responsibilities to comply with air emissions, storm water, waste, wastewater and other environmental related laws, regulations and permits. This includes required Federal, State and local reporting
- Support new facility or retrofit design reviews to ensure effective environmental assessments and risk assessments are completed as part of all projects
- Complete environmental incident investigations and associated regulatory reports and develop appropriate corrective actions
- Develop and implement regulated/hazardous waste management programs and waste minimization plans
- Primary point of contact for to all outside environmental agency interactions
- Identify opportunities to integrate environmental management practices into operational processes, standard operating procedures, and training
- Remain up to date on new and changing regulatory requirements to ensure ATD maintains compliance with all Federal, State and local regulations
- Conduct facility audits/inspections to proactively ensure alignment with ATD Environmental Programs and applicable regulatory requirements
- Lead environmental continuous improvement initiatives to achieve yearly and long-term goals.
