Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, science, or a related technical field
- At least 10 years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, including multi-disciplinary systems engineering and/or program management environments, with a strong background in space, intelligence, and/or defense domains
- Proficiency with mission engineering to include scoping a mission, developing mission parameters to characterize the mission, and how mission architectures and engineering analysis provide actionable information for external customers
- Demonstrated experience with project planning and team leadership
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with customers, Aerospace program offices, and contractors; to collaborate with other functional organizations within Aerospace; and to mentor and develop junior staff
- Experience developing and presenting strategic decision-making and strategic communications artifacts for senior-level management and technical architecture design artifacts for engineering-level reviews
- Exceptional time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and to organize and lead cross-functional, cross-organizational teams to execute studies and assessments
- Exhibits exceptionally high level of innovation, creativeness, and initiative
- Availability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally approx. 5-10%
- This position requires a current and active TS/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop system of systems and enterprise engineering MBSE models and mission engineering principles to capture end-to-end mission threads
- Identify and integrate analytical methods and tools to evaluate program and mission strategic concepts to influence solution conceptual designs for performance, risk, and resilience to disruptive events or threats
- Lead development of architectures for modeling, simulation, and data tools and their interactions, defining concepts of operations and use cases, and overseeing implementation to ensure that intended objectives are met
- Lead and develop models and analysis to identify risks on new capabilities, including strategic assessments, operations, resources, networks, and data across the national security space enterprise
- Lead project teams comprising Aerospace, customer, and contractor personnel on multiple concurrent projects to elicit and identify needs, requirements, and constraints for studies and marshal technical expertise in multiple technical disciplines and domains to enable concurrent engineering approaches, developing and mentoring junior staff as part of the role
- Mentor early career and experienced staff, serving as a role model and technical advisor to an exceptionally talented and highly motivated cadre of mission engineers to develop department capabilities and meet emerging demand for department expertise.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in engineering, math, science, or related technical discipline
- Experience working closely with key Aerospace customer agencies in the defense and intelligence community, including strong knowledge of their domain and strong professional networks ranging from operations, requirements, resourcing, acquisitions, test and training
- Demonstrated success in organizing and leading cross-functional, cross-organizational teams to execute studies and assessments and generate quality products
- Experience working large, complex issues and the ability to break down problems into meaningful steps, assigning the tasks to a team and ensuring the team provides the requisite deliverables on time
- More relevant work and/or graduate school experience, greater than 10 years, in space operations or space systems engineering
- Hands-on experience with system or enterprise modeling in the Systems Modeling Language (SysML), Unified Architecture Framework (UAF), or Unified Profile for DoDAF and MODAF (UPDM)
- Experience leading and executing digital transformation initiatives
