Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field; or equivalent work experience
  • 7-10 years’ experience leading data governance and/or data quality initiatives with tangible results
  • Proven success developing, leading and driving a data governance program across a complex infrastructure
  • Proven background educating, championing and advocating for data governance across all levels in an organization, as well integrating into the company culture
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties
  • Self-motivated; able to work independently to complete tasks and respond to requests, collaborate with others to identify high quality solutions
  • Excellent follow-up skills; ability to organize applicable department timelines and follow up with internal clients
  • Proven track record relative to role in building and maintaining solid relationships with internal customers and vendors
  • Demonstrated history of working with various groups and different level of employees throughout the organization to effectively achieve results
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively
  • Experience in educating and influencing program stakeholders regarding program goals, objectives, and approach
  • Strong office and software technical skills, including Excel, Visio, PowerPoint system, other enterprise document management database systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the team in realizing Voya’s vision of data managed as an asset; this role will be a key contributor of the Data Governance team
  • Understand the Content and Data Governance policy; assist in adherence to policy and assist in the implementation of the Enterprise Data Governance Framework
  • Drive the framework development, control policies and help employees understand data usage. Develop and drive the enterprise data quality, management strategies and operating model to document and improve the quality of critical data
  • Participate in the appointment of data stewards across the enterprise and assist in providing their training and support. Interface with other operational organizations including IT and Information Security
  • Assist in the monitoring, remediation, and certification of Critical Data Elements across various systems to ensure consistency
  • Actively promote the importance of data governance and data quality within the organization, building understanding and commitment by all employees that clean, governed data is a shared responsibility
  • Assist in managing a central process to capture, prioritize and manage data quality issues across the firm including familiarity with data profiling, rulemaking, workflows, and remediation efforts
  • Assist in defining the metrics and KPI’s, in addition to monitoring and reporting on data governance activities, adherence and exceptions using corporate standard dashboards and data analytics systems
  • Work in collaboration with stakeholders across functions to develop policies and procedures which will enforce repeatable and reliable processes, thus reducing variability, increasing efficiency and enhancing overall data quality and compliance
