Responsibilities
- Installs, maintains, repairs, overhauls, troubleshoots, modifies, constructs and tests various types of electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment and related devices.
- Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles to put equipment in operational condition and solve complex problems.
- Troubleshoots and corrects malfunctions using specialized test and diagnostic equipment.
- Perform hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of shipboard engineering systems.
- Support installation and testing of new or upgraded mechanical and electrical systems in accordance with U.S. Navy modernization plans.
- Use schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to inspect, evaluate, and certify system functionality.
- Interface with Navy personnel, engineers, and other contractors to ensure all work aligns with ship specifications and NAVSEA standards.
- Document work completed, record test results, and prepare technical reports using Navy-approved documentation systems (e.g., ICAPS, 3M, or NMD).
- Participate in sea trials, dock trials, or ship checks to validate system performance in operational conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior U.S. Navy experience (e.g., Machinist’s Mate (MM), Gas Turbine Systems Technician (GSM), Engineman (EN), or equivalent).
- NAVSEA/NAVY AIT (Alteration Installation Team) or Regional Maintenance Center (RMC) experience.
- Proficiency in using Navy maintenance and logistics software tools.
- OSHA 10/30 Maritime certification or NAVSEA Basic/Advanced Safety Training.
- Familiarity with QA Level I or other Navy QA standards.
