Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience working on fast-paced product-focused engineering teams
  • 3+ years of experience managing a team of engineers in a multi-faceted product engineering org
  • Deep experience with cross-functional collaboration – a willingness to dive into the technical and product strategy and help define it (or lead the charge in defining it)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical strategy for discovery and inspiration and contribute to the overall product engineering strategy for Uber Eats as a whole. Including significant collaborations with Product, Core Engineering Platform Teams, Production Operations and Product Analytics/Data Science.
  • Grow strong technical leaders and talent in the team, and through that, drive innovations in product experiences, mobile platform development and integration of advanced machine learning features for end users.
  • Manage a full-stack engineering team that owns the backend and frontend systems that power how Uber Eats collects, curates, and incentivizes content, and create a flywheel to encourage more users to become creators.
  • Identify opportunity areas that the team and org must head in over the next 6-12+ months, and align cross-functionally with others to head in that direction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Leadership experience building an end-to-end product from the ground up, preferably in a 0-1 style.
  • Experience leading by example and finding the right balance between delegation, ownership, and championship.
  • A curiosity to learn not just the technical systems worked on and owned by the team, but the business and strategic direction as well.
  • A track record of scaling product sense and a passion for problem-solving without over-engineering across a team of software engineers.
  • An ownership mentality and ability to rally the team around objectives and outcomes that they can all care about.
