Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position (U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder).
  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience in engineering applications administration
  • In-depth knowledge of PLM systems, application support, and incident management processes.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues in engineering environments.
  • Solid understanding of hardware, software, networking concepts, including TCP/IP layers 1-8, Distributed File System (DFS), and Server Message Block (SMB) protocol.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using Perl, Batch, PowerShell, and Python
  • Proficiency in system monitoring, performance tuning, and incident resolution techniques.
  • Proven ability to design scalable and efficient solutions for engineering applications.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of mentoring and supporting Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the final escalation point for all complex and high-priority incidents related to engineering applications and PLM systems, working to resolve issues that require deep technical expertise and troubleshooting.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvements to application support processes, performance, and overall system reliability to ensure optimal user experience and operational efficiency.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills to address and resolve system performance issues, application failures, and other technical problems.
  • Work closely with Tier 1 and Tier 2 support teams to provide guidance, mentoring, and training on complex issues, ensuring proper escalation paths are followed and knowledge is transferred.
  • Drive efforts to integrate engineering applications with other enterprise systems, promoting automation where possible to streamline processes and reduce manual intervention.
  • Create and maintain detailed system documentation, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge base articles to ensure knowledge retention and effective issue resolution.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and implementation of new engineering applications and systems to ensure they align with long-term business goals and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Establish strong working relationships with engineering, IT, and business teams to ensure system requirements are understood and met, and to stay ahead of potential challenges or future upgrades.
