Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science in Engineering at an ABET accredited institution with an anticipated graduation date by May 2025. Student must successfully complete and obtain their degree prior to their scheduled start date.
- A Master’s degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering obtained from an ABET accredited program, OR a master’s degree in Engineering in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering
- Minimum of two (2) years of engineering experience
Responsibilities
- Develop the skills needed to perform steady state analysis of the Duke Energy Florida transmission system to verify reliability requirements are met and identify necessary system improvements
- Develop the skills needed to perform maintenance/updates of electric system models utilizing PSSE software
- Assist with facility ratings database and energization process
- Work with various project teams to develop solutions for electric transmission system improvements
- Ensure compliance with NERC Reliability Standards and maintain documentation of compliance activities
- Participate in inter-utility system working groups and perform related studies
- Provide technical support to other areas of Transmission and the company on Transmission planning related issues
- Support the company’s goals and represent the company in a positive professional manner at regional reliability team meetings
- Coordinate the thorough and accurate preparation of electrical maps, technical reports, correspondence, and documentation
Preferred Qualifications
- Electrical Engineering Degree preferred
- Programming experience in areas such as Python, batch files, Visual Basic
- Competence in engineering theories and principles
- Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in the utility industry
- Ability to work with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Proficient user of Microsoft Windows Office based applications
