Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Courses in Basic Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or Mechanical design of electronics systems / microelectronics packaging is a plus
- 0-2+ years of experience in mechanical design within a relevant industry.
- Use of lab equipment such as oscilloscope, multimeter, current and voltage probes, power supplies, mechanical presses is a plus
- Basic CAD & Drafting skills
- Strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement
- Able to travel domestically and internationally
- All applicants must be based in and/or able to commute to Towson, MD
Responsibilities
- Design and prototyping of innovative power tool electrical assemblies and electronics modules
- Mechanical design of plastic, metal parts, interconnection, PCBs using 3D CAD software (CATIA)
- Prepare drawings for prototyping purposes
- Work with the model shop and suppliers to get the prototypes, attend product builds at contract manufacturer
- Participate in brainstorming sessions to create new ideas
- Analysis of thermal design circuits, airflow analysis and other product specific analysis tasks
- Perform test tasks for new product development projects and cost reduction projects
- Using Finite Element Analysis packages
- Create bill of materials and preliminary cost analysis
- Presentation of results to supervisor and Innovation / Technology leadership
Preferred Qualifications
