Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or Engineering Technology
  • Over 4 years of experience in brake engineering with a focus on brake system development, preferably in the automotive industry or electric vehicle sector
  • Experience with CAD/FEA
  • Deep understanding of brake systems, and their requirements
  • Proficiency in requirements management and system integration
  • Advanced project steering and coordination skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including ownership, self-motivation, problem-solving, analytical thinking, teamwork, innovation, creativity, communication, and the ability to develop and thrive in collaborative working relationships
  • Proven ability to excel in a cross-functional environment
  • Familiarity with brake system regulations and standards, including FMVSS, VDA, ISO, and SAE guidelines
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and optimize brake system performance
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners
  • Detail-oriented approach to design, testing, and documentation

Responsibilities

  • Join the Scout Brake Team to collaborate on the design and development of brake system components; brake calipers, rotors, lines, hoses, actuation system, and brake pedal assembly
  • Release designs into Scout system, work cross-functionally to ensure brake system components meet design/performance requirements
  • Coordinate with supplier(s) for engineering activities, ensuring supplier meets requirements set by Scout
  • Work with supplier and cross-functional ensuring brake system components meet validation and testing requirements
  • Work with pre-series team to coordinate prototype part design, and work with supplier to deliver on those requirements
  • Provide brake expertise to the broader Scout team; technical support and collaborate with other teams to ensure the quality and consistency of brake system components
  • Coordinate and consult other teams (outside engineering), as needed, to ensure brake components meet Scout requirements (ie: procurement, quality, production…)
  • Participate in design reviews and brainstorming sessions to contribute innovative ideas that enhance brake system performance and efficiency
  • Introduce innovative ideas and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure the company’s vision is achieved
  • Critically review existing designs, ideas, and specifications, proposing engineering improvements
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements related to brake systems, electric vehicle technologies, safety regulations, and performance requirements

  • OEM experience is preferred
