Requirements
- Be capable of working with the tools of the operating engineer’s trade.
- Basic knowledge of refrigeration, controls, electricity, chemical treatment and HVAC systems.
- Universal CFC certification. Must have or obtain in one year.
- Ability to comprehend written and oral instructions.
- Must work scheduled rotational shifts, including days, evenings, nights, holidays and weekends.
- Two years’ experience as a mechanic/operator of commercial equipment including HVAC systems required.
- High school, technical school, apprenticeship, trade school graduate or equivalent required.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain assigned chillers and HVAC equipment.
- Make periodic tours of assigned equipment and systems within the Central Plant, recording required data.
- Monitor water treatment program for cooling equipment.
- Report all faults, deficiencies, and unusual occurrences to supervisor.
- Respond to emergencies on assigned equipment, performing all tasks necessary for the protection of property and personnel.
- Handling and processing classified waste. Maintain written records.
- Maintain security and cleanliness in assigned secured work areas.
- Responsible for the duties of HVAC Grade II as assigned by Chief Engineer on maintenance days.
- Monitor and execute the Lock-out/Tag-out program.
- Perform other job-related work as required.

- Ability to write correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
