Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, or related discipline (candidates can substitute one year of experience for each year of education)
- 5+ years of experience in performing custom engineering calculations and/or data analysis related to energy efficiency including NMEC and energy building modeling software
- 5+ years in developing, reviewing and/or supporting custom energy efficiency projects including HVAC, water/wastewater treatment, domestic water heating, and energy management systems (EMS)
- Demonstrated familiarity with California Custom Project Review (CPR) process
- Demonstrated familiarity with California energy regulatory policy requirements including CPUC funded efficiency programs and building/equipment energy codes including Title 20 and Title 24
Responsibilities
- Perform custom energy project reviews utilizing energy modeling software (EnergyPlus, EnergyPro) and spreadsheet analysis with little supervision
- Utilize Normalized Metered Energy Consumption (NMEC) analysis
- Coordinate documentation submittals to the California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) through the Custom Project Review (CPR) process
- Perform analysis to document measure cost effectiveness parameters including total system benefit (TSB)
- Manage multiple technically detailed projects while working with engineering firms, end-users, and utility clients to maintain program satisfaction
- Perform or utilize market and/or technical studies to justify baseline and measure costs
- Write detailed reports documenting existing conditions, proposed measures and other cost effectiveness parameters
- Understand business decision-making including financial principles, estimating costs, and proposing work
- Must have a reliable vehicle for local travel. Requirements are between 5% to 25% of the time (As needed) (reimbursement for mileage provided)
Preferred Qualifications
- Field experience working on commercial and/or industrial energy efficiency or related equipment, including commissioning, M&V, audits, surveys, etc.
- Familiarity with using the California eTRM
- Demonstrated experience with electrification, DERs, and/or DR
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
- CEM certification
- PMP certification
