Requirements

  • Requires basic job knowledge of network/communications systems and procedures obtained through prior work experience or education.
  • Typically has 3 to 5 years of experience. Vocational or technical education in addition to related work experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products; Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Physical abilities include the use of arms, hands, and fingers to operate tools and various equipment. Some standing, walking, moving, climbing, bending, crawling, reaching, and handling, pushing, and pulling.
  • Able to focus on items less than 20 inches away (corrected or uncorrected), see in three dimensions and distinguish all colors.
  • Experience working with documents and materials in a classified work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of complex technical functions related to the support of development engineering activities such as systems setup, operations and maintenance, modification, testing, calibration and troubleshooting of electronic or electro-mechanical systems, experimental design, prototype models or specialized test equipment where quality is extremely important.
  • Assist fellow technicians or engineers with assembling electronics or electro-mechanical subassemblies for prototype and operational models.
  • Build and install power and data cabling, Ethernet, fiberoptic and others. Terminate, troubleshoot, certify, and solder cabling as necessary.
  • Install network and communications equipment, troubleshoot systems to determine failure cause and provide a remedy for malfunctions and perform modifications to equipment as directed.
  • Able to read and comprehend electrical schematics, service manuals and service bulletins to perform services needed to maintain fleet readiness.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Maintain and adhere to operational procedures and work instructions, follow work orders, written and verbal work instructions and assist with preparation of reports and appropriate documentation to include following test procedures and recording results.
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance before start of work.
  • Responsibilities will include refurbishment of customer equipment that consists of the following activities: sanding, grinding, cleaning, painting, and use of various hand tools such as grinders, sanders, drills, etc.
  • Could be tasked to travel CONUS up to 25% of the time.
  • Possess proven problem-solving skills and can manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
  • Use of basic test equipment, pneumatic, powered and hand tools will be required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Building Industry Consulting Services International (BICSI) certification; Installer 1 and 2 (copper and Fiber Optic Cable), BICSI Technician
  • CAT6/7 cable terminations, fiber optic fusion splicing, and soldering.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
