Requirements
- Advanced degree and 5+ years of experience in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Program Management, or Aerospace Manufacturing Industry; OR Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of relevant industry experience
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical and manufacturing engineering aspects of NPI builds, ensuring execution to agreed schedules, costs, and quality standards.
- Focus on the introduction and improvement of manufacturing processes for hardware, electronic PCBs, and electronic components.
- Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure manufacturability of new products.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Utilize manufacturing data to identify and address issues proactively.
- Drive systemic root cause analysis and corrective actions using data.
- Identify, expedite, and escalate any quality or performance issues.
- Report and maintain manufacturing engineering metrics, tracking performance against team KPIs and individual goals.
- Support program cells and the broader engineering community as needed.
- Participate in team activities with integrated program teams, engineering groups, and other cross-functional teams.
- Participate in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and manufacturability analyses and reporting.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
- Conduct time studies and workflow analysis to identify areas for improvement.
- Evaluate and select equipment, tools, and materials for manufacturing processes.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Train and support production staff on new processes and equipment.
- Lead and participate in process FMEA development, design review, and risk mitigation processes.
- Apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement and optimize processes.
- Prepare for and conduct Manufacturing Readiness Reviews (MRR) to ensure readiness for production.
- Use Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRLs) to assess and communicate the maturity of manufacturing processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineering Degree: Electrical, Electronics, Industrial, Mechanical or Aerospace preferred.
- Direct experience with new product introduction and manufacturing readiness review is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes for hardware, electronic PCBs, and electronic components, preferably within the Aerospace or Defense sector.
- Wide-ranging understanding of electronic and electro-mechanical product design and operation.
- Knowledge of automation and robotics in manufacturing.
- Experience in implementation and sustainment of AS9100D or ISO9001:2015 certification preferred.
- Understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DfM) or Design for Excellence (DfX) principles.
- Ability to lead or participate in process FMEA development, design review, and risk mitigation processes.
- Project management experience and ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with problem-solving tools such as root cause and corrective actions (RCCA)
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement tools (CORE/ACE/SixSigma).
- Ability to communicate and work across all levels of the organization.
