Responsibilities

  • Installs, repairs or replaces, modifies, loads, and tests new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, panels, switches, breakers, and controls located in and near installation buildings, and structures associated with test cell facilities in direct support of National Defense programs and equipment.
  • Maintains and operates secondary switchgear, Uninterruptible Power Source (UPS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s) Systems and associated batteries, distribution lines, 2000 kVA (Kilo Volt Amperes) and larger electrical load centers providing technical and utility power.
  • Works on secondary distribution lines and circuits used to supply distribution panels, switchgears, power and control circuits, electrical intrusion alarm and fire alarm systems; emergency warning systems; cathodic protection systems; high intensity lighting systems; and related equipment.
  • Maintains, operates, and repairs medium voltage 4160V electrical distribution systems and components for the site’s 4-megawatt diesel generator utility plant. Uses metrics to anticipate and respond quickly to systems and equipment. Tests and maintains diesel generators for proper electrical output.
  • Troubleshoots problem areas and specialized equipment test cells by inspecting for defective equipment and faulty wiring. Works from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and maintenance and repair manuals to recommend proper repairs and/or replacements.
  • Test, repairs, modifies, and overhauls a variety of equipment such as AC/DC motors, alternators, transformers, generators, remote controls, relays, power control panels, and electrically powered equipment. Tests for and diagnoses malfunctions using whatever means necessary to effectively diagnose, correct the malfunction and return the equipment to full operation at the OEM specifications.
  • Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Uses and assures proper fit of required PPE safety equipment and clothing. Follows and adheres to National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace guidelines. Attends and stays compliant with security, safety, OSHA, AFI’s, Air Force Policy Directive (AFPD), Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), National Electric Code (NEC), and code compliance training and promptly inform the supervisor of any accidents and/or damages to supplies or equipment or of any observed unsafe practices and /or procedures in accordance with established policies and procedures.
