Requirements
- A working understanding of electric system facilities and equipment
- An understanding of and the ability to effectively operate common and specialized test equipment and software
- Ability to effectively utilize computer hardware and software, and electronic systems applications
- Basic troubleshooting and problem solving skills and techniques
- Ability to identify abnormal conditions and initiate an appropriate general response
- An understanding of and ability to accurately interpret basic protection, control and metering schematics
- Basic skills related to diagnostic testing, interpretation of test results and ability to draw conclusions, make recommendations and initiate corrective action
- Calculate electric formulas and apply the results
- Understand and apply CONVEX ESOP 100 (switching and tagging) and pass the testing
- Be approved for the CONVEX ESOP 100 Approved Person List
- Job safety, including confined space, CPR, first aid, bucket rescue, defensive driving, and all PPE
- Familiarity with UI Switching and Tagging Procedures
- Obtain and hold NERC Certification
- Requires an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license
Responsibilities
- Development of fundamental knowledge and skills required to support the performance of Electrical Test Department job responsibilities
- Support the testing, analyzing, troubleshooting, maintenance, commissioning, and compliance needs for GIS, DG, Storm Hardening, SCADA, Communication Systems, JMUX, Corporate & Secure Network, transmission, substation, distribution and customer power system facilities, equipment and tools
- Satisfactory completion of assigned portions of the Test Dept TMP program
- Work Environment and Hazards: Work is located inside and outside of electrical substations, manholes, vaults, customer locations, and roadside. Exposure to weather, high voltages, gases, and toxic liquids. Falling hazards are present when working with ladders, bucket trucks, aerial lifts, and scaffolding. Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment when transporting and executing job assignments

Preferred Qualifications
- Entry-level; related electrical experience and leadership aptitude preferred
- Knowledge of computer, computerized systems (e.g. WORD, EXCEL, SAP, GIS) and electrical devices and controls is preferred
