Requirements

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent technical certification.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as an Electrical Test Technician, with a strong emphasis on building and operating test loops in a product development or industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in wiring and configuring instrumentation and control systems.
  • Solid understanding of electrical principles, including AC/DC circuits, signal transmission, and grounding techniques.
  • Proficiency in using various electrical test equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and signal generators.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and analysis software.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain test loops, including the selection, installation, and wiring of instrumentation and control components such as sensors, actuators, valves, and controllers.
  • Interpret P&IDs and electrical schematics to accurately connect devices.
  • Select and install appropriate wiring, connectors, and cabling for various signals and environments.
  • Ensure proper grounding and shielding to minimize noise and interference.
  • Configure and calibrate a wide range of instrumentation and control devices, including pressure sensors, flow meters, temperature transmitters, and control valves.
  • Set up and operate data acquisition systems to collect and analyze test data from various sensors and instruments.
  • Select appropriate sampling rates and data logging parameters.
  • Use software tools to visualize and analyze data, identify trends, and generate reports.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to instrumentation, control systems, and electrical circuits within the test loop.
  • Work closely with engineers to define test parameters, execute test plans, and analyze results.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
  • Accurately document test setups, procedures, and results.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with industrial automation systems (PLCs, DCS) is a plus.
