Requirements

  • BS/BA in Supply Chain, Operations Management, or Engineering or a closely related field is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain management or engineering.
  • This position will require occasional day and/or overnight travel by auto or airplane, up to 20%.

Responsibilities

  • Source and launch new products from concept stage to supporting ongoing operations.
  • Maintain effective business communications/relationships with suppliers and internal customers to understand project/production fluctuations.
  • Serve as a technical consultant and collaborative resource with suppliers and internal customers.
  • Support sourcing strategy development and execution.
  • Facilitate and analyze Requests for Quote to support sourcing processes.
  • Travel to current and potential suppliers to perform audits and conduct business reviews.
  • Manage cost effectively using negotiation and cost management tools.
  • Execute purchase orders, requisitions, and appropriation requests for the purchasing of tooling, components, and services as required.
  • Drive continuous improvement in supplier performance for quality, delivery and cost.
  • Ensure suppliers understand Mercury’s objective and strategy for long-term partnerships.
  • Respond to internal customer inquiries in a timely, accurate manner.
  • Actively support the Category Team in strategy development, execution, and communication.
  • Manage projects in a collaborative, thorough, and detail-oriented manner.
  • Conduct or lead cost and risk analyses.
  • Utilize effective project management tools to ensure timely delivery of responsibilities.
  • Manage changes as required with effective communication and execution.
  • Communicate, align, and monitor project schedules with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Perform detailed cost analysis of supplier proposals.
  • Lead the tooling management process for assigned components.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of cost information provided by suppliers.
  • Facilitate internal and external reviews of component tooling requests.
  • Maintain thorough understanding of costs and changes throughout the year.
  • Facilitate close communication related to the procurement process to all other functions within the organization.
  • Demonstrate a high level of personal integrity, credibility, and trust.
  • Participate in team discussions to ensure procurement objectives are understood and aligned.
  • Support and participate in cross-functional discussions with suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain effective business relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPSM and CPIM certification preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
