Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Experience with identification and mitigation of EH&S hazards.
  • Knowledge and the application of the principals of regulatory requirements.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of EHS professionals to assure compliance with applicable federal, state, local and company EH&S requirements.
  • Understand the goals and priorities for the RTX and RAY EHS organization and effectively support/lead/motivate the EH&S team to accomplish them.
  • Build a high performing team, boost morale, and create a positive working environment.
  • Identify pain points and barriers for team members and develop/implement the strategy to remove them.
  • Partner with local functional leaders to streamline processes or resolve problems where EHS is a stakeholder or is affected.
  • Recognize, evaluate, and control hazardous workplace conditions.
  • Take proactive steps to ensure the safety and health of site employees and influence safe behaviors.
  • Execute initiatives, programs, reports, and training across multiple EH&S disciplines, as required to achieve and maintain compliance.
  • Prepare and manage documentation relating to safety and environmental policies in preparation for audits.
  • Provides proper documentation in preparation for permits and liaising with governmental bodies.
  • Maintains EH&S Management System Conformance.
  • Achieves and maintains consistency of EH&S record keeping and documentation with organizational and regulatory policy.
  • Audit and evaluate current policies, procedures, and documentation to assure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Investigate, analyze, and interpret data from injuries and near-misses ensuring corrective actions are completed on time, and all necessary documentation is in place.
  • Interact with employees of all levels, promote relationships, learn the tasks employees perform and be known as a resource to the employees at the site.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of EH&S strategic initiatives that drive continuous improvement.
  • Support the site’s environmental compliance programs, including, but not limited to, hazardous waste management, stormwater and ground-water protection plans, air quality permitting, wastewater, and toxic chemical reporting.
  • Develop and implement sustainability practices and programs related to waste, water, and greenhouse gases in alignment with our long-term goals.
  • Identify environmental risk and complete due diligence; investigate root cause for environmental incidents.

  • Strong presentation skills
  • Project management and execution skills
  • Previous experience working at an OSHA VPP (Voluntary Protection Program) site.
  • Professional Certification in the EHS field (ASP, CSP, CIH, etc.).
  • Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to effectively organize and manage multiple projects and programs in a fast-pace environment and demonstrate effective prioritization and implementation skills.
  • Ability to provide clear, concise, and effective verbal communications.
