Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • At least 2-4 years in higher education (education abroad or experience within an international division preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural and international community
  • Must have experience advising students and working with various constituencies (e.g., administrators, faculty, and parents)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate in a cross-cultural environment
  • Ability to manage multiple caseloads across the various phases of education abroad while navigating the cyclical nature of the academic year
  • Strong computer and database skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Envisions and proposes new methods to perform tasks that support ET&A; takes thoughtful risks; and accepts new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results
  • Anticipates and embraces change; demonstrates willingness to achieve, acquire, and utilize new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain a portfolio of study abroad programs offered by Babson College which includes creating and disseminating program information to market study abroad and maintain Babson study abroad and exchange program pages on the departmental website; semester, and summer international engagement; and partnering with and engaging in regular communication with program providers, other US universities, and foreign universities offering study abroad opportunities and programs, helping the team to stay current on international opportunities
  • Assist and advise students in all aspects of studying abroad, according to Babson College policies, from the beginning stages of selecting a program to their re-entry back to Babson including: support students in identifying and selecting programs based on curricular fit, co-curricular opportunities, program type, cost, and student identity, goals, and needs; develop and implement high quality pre-departure and re-entry programming; advise students on external scholarships and assist with required application materials; facilitate both one-on-one and group-based advising sessions; supporting students applying for visas and submitting required materials to partner institutions/organizations; address inquiries and requests from parents, faculty, and staff; support students experiencing cultural adjustment difficulties (e.g., homesickness, housing concerns, course expectations, etc.); and advise students on re-entry challenges and facilitating curriculum integration and credit transfer policies
  • In collaboration with the Director, Education Abroad, manages Babson College’s portfolio of exchange programs including but not limited to the negotiation of exchange agreement terms with exchange partner universities; oversight of Babson’s and partner’s compliance with exchange agreements; enrollment management; incoming exchange student admission; and annual balance negotiations. Designs programs, advocates for, and offers support services to incoming international exchange students. Collaborates with the International Student & Scholar Services team to ensure exchange student well-being and compliance during their term at Babson College
  • In collaboration with the Education Abroad team, implements a comprehensive annual marketing plan for education abroad student recruitment; maintains accuracy of education abroad program web pages; plans and conducts information sessions and class visits; promotes education abroad at campus events (e.g., admissions, academic, and cultural events, etc.)
  • Evaluates existing programs and implements improvements as needed and recommends development of new programs based on student demand
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree preferred, with international focus or relevant field preferred
  • Terra Dotta Software knowledge is preferred
  • Fluency in English plus a second language ability preferred
