Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Communication or related discipline or equivalent work experience
- At least 6 years of relevant experience in digital journalism and Style’s content areas
- Proven people management and leadership experience
- Exceptional writing, reporting and editing skills
- An understanding of video content production
- A solid understanding of media law and ethics
- A willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet the demands of an unpredictable news cycle
Responsibilities
- Conceive of compelling and original stories and series ideas that adhere to Style’s editorial mission and help meet challenging audience goals and sponsorship requirements
- Produce and oversee the production of world-class editorial coverage for Style using a mix of digital, video, interactive and social storytelling techniques
- Be accountable for the life of assigned content, from production to release through ongoing refreshes and updates
- Manage a writer; coordinate with a large network of freelance contributors
- Work with other editorial leads on the team to effectively communicate Style’s editorial coverage plans across departments and bureaus globally
- Act as a key contact for producers in bureaus across the US region who occasionally contribute to the Style section
- Promote close collaboration with desks and departments beyond the Style team
- Work closely with the digital programming and social teams to ensure Style stories are effectively programmed and promoted for audiences
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with digital video production, photography and other visual storytelling techniques a plus
