Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience in DWDM or TCP/IP or system design operations methodology.
  • Experience working with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications environment.

Responsibilities

  • Produce plans that maximize demand admission within product Service Level Objective (SLO), in line with established standards and minimizing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
  • Produce designs for all active edge devices participating in Production (Prod). Do all of the above consistently (entire network, plan and designs completeness) and reliably.
  • Incorporate newly NPI’d solutions into plans and designs. Ensure plan and design toolsets and business processes are ready for intaking NPIs.
  • Evolve the business processes governing the generation of plans and designs, throughout their life-cycle (input gathering, generation, validation, publication), including the definition of the business policies that govern them (architectural/topology, hardware life-cycle, capacity/utilization goal, failure policy).
  • Drive the automation roadmap of all automatable tasks performed by the team, substantially reducing cycle time and improving quality and consistency.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Layer 1 optical transmissions systems, layer 3 routing TCP/IP, wireless networking, network design, or operations.
  • Knowledge of internal planning and design tools.
  • Knowledge of Content Distribution Networks (CDN), IP transit/peering, dark fiber, colocation, optical transport, and cloud technologies and industry processes financial skills (e.g., cost-benefit analysis).
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and prioritization abilities with attention to detail.
