Echo Vascular Tech

Requirements

• ARDMS, ARRT or CCI certification in cardiac or vascular sonography.
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
• One of the three of the following national registry credentials through ARDMS, ARRT or CCI as applicable to the department: Medical sonography, Vascular technology, Adult echo, Adult congenital echo, Pediatric echo.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate technical competence for performance protocols specific to the department.
• Prioritize and schedule exams, coordinating with medical staff, physician offices, other caregivers, and patients.
• Prepare for the exam by following patient identification processes, educating patients and families, and transporting patients.
• Perform ultrasound exams consistent with related protocols and in a timely manner, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Mentor caregivers and students on basic equipment use and procedural technique.
• Ensure the patient’s stability and safety after the exam.
• Identify patient needs and communicate and coordinate patient care with physicians, other caregivers, patients, and family.
• Document exam results and other needed information accurately, and charge for exams and supplies.
• Clean and maintain equipment and work area, stock supplies, and coordinate repair or supply needs.
• Support team and quality improvement processes and initiatives.
• Participate in educational opportunities to ensure clinical competence and develop additional skills and knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
