Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Must have and maintain a current licensure by the Texas State Board of Nursing.
  • Current status as an RN required.
  • Experience in supervisory or leadership capacity in a hospital or long-term care facility, and/or geriatric nursing preferred.
  • Prior experience in long-term care preferred.
  • Requires proficient ability to speak, read and write English.
  • Requires ability to comply with Patient’s rights, all regulatory requirements, and all company policies and procedures as stated now and in the future.
  • Requires ability to use up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 pounds continuously to move objects and/or people.
  • Requires ability to walk, stand and sit, sometimes for prolonged periods of time.
  • Requires ability to bend, stoop, twist, turn, reach, lift, carry, pull, push, climb, kneel, walk and stand over 75% of shift.

Responsibilities

  • Establish objectives for the department of nursing and the organizational structure for achieving these objectives.
  • Guide nursing personnel in the development of personal and professional objectives and in the setting of unit goals consistent with those established by the Nursing Service Department.
  • Interpret and implement administrative policies and standards as established by the governing authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations in all areas of nursing care.
  • Develop and/or approve all Nursing Service policies.
  • Plan, organize, and direct nursing personnel in fulfilling their responsibilities for nursing service.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director, Infection Control, Nurse and Quality Assurance Coordinator in the execution of the resident care policies.
  • Prepare the budget for the Nursing Service Department. Develop and manage budget effectively. Manage program resources to insure they are used efficiently and appropriately.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in supervisory or leadership capacity in a hospital or long-term care facility, and/or geriatric nursing preferred.
