Requirements
- Master degree in business, education, or a related field (relevant work experience can substitute); minimum of 5 years work experience in a corporate function (e.g., accounting, finance, consulting, marketing, operations) or relevant experience in career coaching/advising, outplacement, recruiting for these industries.
- A strong desire to work with specialized masters students and knowledge of various career fields for graduates.
- Experienced leader with a proven track record of success in leadership positions within complex, multi-constituent, fast-paced, and mission-driven organizations.
- Extensive experience in career and/or leadership coaching, curriculum strategy and innovation, and leading teams.
- Effective developer of people who can manage a talented and passionate team and portfolio of projects and issues and rapidly assess situations with multiple outcomes and consequences.
- Flexible problem-solver with the ability to create structured quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate difficult and complex matters effectively to a range of audiences and skill levels.
- Excellent judgment, discretion, flexibility, and ability to work under pressure in a variety of contexts.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Teams, Zoom and/or other remote communication technologies as well as webinars.
- Highly proficient with spreadsheet and presentation software (MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel)
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills
- Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for the specialized master’s career coaching team, ensuring alignment, collaboration, and professional development across all coaching roles.
- Drive continuous improvement in the career management experience by identifying opportunities to enhance programming, digital resources, and career tools.
- Oversee the development and execution of career education initiatives, including orientation, MS career education, and ACE programming, in collaboration with the team.
- Provide strategic oversight of budget management, vendor selection, and operational processes to enhance efficiency and scalability.
- Provide strategic leadership in career coaching, ensuring best practices are implemented across the team.
- Partner with Employer Engagement and Alumni Engagement teams to strengthen employer and alumni involvement in student career development.
- Partner with Admissions to leverage data analytics and storytelling, shaping a compelling narrative around student career success across industry sectors.
- Lead career-related communications for specialized master’s students, ensuring alignment and effective messaging across the Career Management team and key stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of leading teams, 10+ years of experience in career development, career education and coaching, and business planning in the higher education or corporate sector.
- Proven success in innovation and creativity in career education and curriculum design for specialized masters students.
- Clear interest in and/or understanding of higher education ecosystem and culture.
- Strong analytical background or work experiences.
- Familiarity with 12Twenty or other career services management systems.
