Director – Information Technology & Security – K12 Edtech

At least 5 years of relevant experience in information technology and security, with proven experience executing complex projects in a startup environment.
Strong knowledge of security frameworks (SOC 2, NIST, ISO 27001) and EdTech regulations (FERPA, COPPA).
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-impact projects with a high level of ownership and attention to detail.
Excellent ability to simplify complex security topics and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.

Establish and manage a helpdesk, develop and enforce technology policies and procedures, and oversee end-to-end employee lifecycle IT processes, including onboarding, offboarding, and access management.
Manage procurement of hardware and software, maintain accurate inventory tracking, and ensure timely, cost-effective equipment distribution.
Oversee vendor management across SaaS tools and IT services, including selection, negotiations, and renewals.
Train our team on the effective and secure use of technology.
Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive security program aligned with industry standards (SOC 2, NIST, ISO 27001) and EdTech regulations (FERPA, COPPA).
Create and maintain incident response plans, conduct risk assessments, and drive security awareness across the organization.
Lead and execute complex IT and security projects, ensuring effective management and timely delivery in a fast-paced startup environment.
Own and drive initiatives such as device management, system migrations, access control audits, and infrastructure scaling.
Collaborate closely with engineering, product, legal, and other teams to integrate security across all operations and communicate risks and strategies clearly to the organization.
Serve as a trusted advisor on technology decisions that affect the broader business.
