Requirements

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in information technology and security, with proven experience executing complex projects in a startup environment.
  • Strong knowledge of security frameworks (SOC 2, NIST, ISO 27001) and EdTech regulations (FERPA, COPPA).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-impact projects with a high level of ownership and attention to detail.
  • Excellent ability to simplify complex security topics and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and manage a helpdesk, develop and enforce technology policies and procedures, and oversee end-to-end employee lifecycle IT processes, including onboarding, offboarding, and access management.
  • Manage procurement of hardware and software, maintain accurate inventory tracking, and ensure timely, cost-effective equipment distribution.
  • Oversee vendor management across SaaS tools and IT services, including selection, negotiations, and renewals.
  • Train our team on the effective and secure use of technology.
  • Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive security program aligned with industry standards (SOC 2, NIST, ISO 27001) and EdTech regulations (FERPA, COPPA).
  • Create and maintain incident response plans, conduct risk assessments, and drive security awareness across the organization.
  • Lead and execute complex IT and security projects, ensuring effective management and timely delivery in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Own and drive initiatives such as device management, system migrations, access control audits, and infrastructure scaling.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product, legal, and other teams to integrate security across all operations and communicate risks and strategies clearly to the organization.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on technology decisions that affect the broader business.
