Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in meteorology
  • Maintain American Meteorological Society Certified Consulting Meteorologist (CCM) or PhD in meteorology or related field
  • At least 3 years of experience providing high-quality expert testimony and other presentations related to forensic investigations
  • At least 3 years of experience in conducting forensic investigations related to severe thunderstorms, including tornadoes, damaging thunderstorm winds, hail, flash flooding, etc.
  • At least 3 years of experience in successfully analyzing Doppler Radar data
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in forensic or operational meteorology
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and supervise co-workers and daily tasks
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong entrepreneurial skills and desire to continuously drive positive business acceleration
  • Demonstrated ability to work quickly, efficiently, and accurately
  • Expertise in obtaining and analyzing weather and climate data
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with NOAA Weather and Climate Toolkit, Gibson Ridge Radar Software, GIS Software such as QGIS and Global Mapper, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic vision for the Forensics team and continuously implement new ideas to drive increased revenue and profitability
  • Monitor and improve efficiency of department operations, delegate tasks to team members
  • Forecast and monitor department sales monthly and optimize pricing of client projects
  • Ensure client satisfaction and develop processes to generate increased business from previous customers
  • Coordinate with Marketing and PR teams to drive awareness of Forensic services leading to increased numbers of qualified leads and ultimately greater revenue
  • Accelerate qualified leads from referral partners
  • Catalog customers, opportunities and completed sales within AccuWeather’s CRM
  • Coordinate with AFB Business Operations Team and Contracts team to ensure rapid negotiation of contracts involving the forensics group
  • Integrate the latest technology and data sources into forensic analysis and report generation
  • Research and prepare individual project reports for forensic investigations
  • Provide expert testimony and other presentations related to forensic investigations
  • Assign site studies, data requests and other projects to appropriate personnel
  • Assure that individual projects are progressing and completed on time
  • Manage Forensic department personnel including oversight and mentoring of staff members, performance evaluations, goal setting for team members, recommendations on compensation
  • Maintain conflict lists and oversee efficient process for checking on potential conflicts
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience successfully conducting investigations related to wildfires, including the use of satellite-based wildfire detection, is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in successfully conducting forensic investigations on general aviation related cases is preferred.
