Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Management, Liberal Arts, related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required.
- MBA preferred.
- Must be willing to relocate (if not currently based in Houston, Dallas, or Austin).
- A minimum of 10 years professional experience is required, 5 years progressive experience in management required, preferably in a consulting role.
- Deep knowledge of professional services, preferably consulting operations and the various roles.
- Strong customer service, meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills necessary.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and quantitative skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Ability to deal with highly confidential information appropriately; ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Comprehensive knowledge of, and experience with Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint is required.
- Ability to travel 1-2x per quarter to other Texas offices.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with case team leadership to understand staffing needs, including nature of assignment, staffing requirements, and oversee staffing of teams to projects based on understanding of client, office and individual needs.
- Work with staffing and talent leadership team to ensure staffing decisions best optimize tradeoffs between client service, utilization and retention.
- Develop one-on-one relationships with assigned cohort to provide guidance and mentoring on career management. Regularly meet with each individual to discuss career development, goals, objectives, and interests. Makes tradeoffs between client needs, office utilization and individual needs.
- Monitor case team assignments to ensure Consulting staff have a variety of consulting projects and diverse experiences.
- Manage professional development of Consulting staff: Review all case end and consensus reviews to ensure quality feedback and clear messaging. Determine appropriate ratings for individuals or help consensus reviewers settle on appropriate ratings for individuals in assigned cohort. Serve as key facilitator across an individual’s Ring of Support to provide coaching, performance support, and connectivity across the TX office.
- Lead select promotion processes in partnership with Talent VP, Sr. Director of Consulting Programs, and promotion committee members.
- Engage across Texas Program Management and Training infrastructure to support regular class meetings and trainings; invite relevant parties to ensure Consulting staff are provided relevant content as pertains to their careers.
- Partner with HR on performance management, employee relations and other issues related to employment law, risk and policy matters.
- Coordinate with HR on transfer process and leaves of absence for consulting staff; lead all diligence efforts for inbound transfer applications for relevant cohort.
- Recruit and interview for Consultants (as necessary).
- Participate in the development and recommendation operating policy and procedural improvements for Consulting staff.
- Work with HR on processes such as Upward Feedback, Ratings, case-end and consensus reviews, and CTSU.
- Owns data integrity within BOSS.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned including leading strategic initiatives such as sustainability task force, Consultant/Manager value proposition, etc. and proactively identify areas for process improvement and drive execution, applying deep functional knowledge of processes.
- Manage the process of maintaining availability of consulting staff, accounting for case activity, vacations and training conflicts, incoming and outgoing personnel, and tracking of upcoming case roll points.
- Actively translate forward looking capacity view into team availability by week for reporting to regional staffing team and Office Heads.
- Act as point person for in answering any questions about upcoming availability and impact of potential cases/backfills/departures.
- Support Sr. Director of Consulting Programs on ad-hoc analytics on long-term capacity trends (e.g. attrition rates).
- Collaborate with Talent VP and Sr. Director of Consulting Program to prepare periodic talent pyramid updates for office heads review and office meetings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong preference for candidates with experience as a client-facing leader within a Consulting firm (equivalent to Bain Senior. Manager or above).
