Requirements
- High School diploma and 6 years of experience.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. government agency level clearance (the DHS EOD, which you must have prior to starting)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Database Architect/Engineer
- Strong expertise in AWS Aurora PostgreSQL and Oracle database management.
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for the installation and configuration of new software and hardware.
- Design, develop and maintain scalable database architectures
- Create and maintain Entity-Relationship Diagrams (ERDs)
- Develop and optimize ETL processes
- Implement partitioning strategies for optimal database performance
- Create and manage AWS-based data warehouse solutions
- Develop and enforce database standards and best practices
- Optimize query performance and database operations
- Provide technical guidance on database design to development teams
- Implement data security measures and compliance requirements
- Plan for necessary hardware or software upgrades to support system growth.
- Provide support with escalated help desk requests.
- Identify root cause and documenting troubleshooting steps to resolution.
- Work independently and in team settings to achieve key project/program objectives and deliverables.
- Administer and maintain AWS Aurora PostgreSQL and Oracle database environments.
- Design, implement, and optimize database schemas and query performance
- Execute data migration projects from Oracle to PostgreSQL
- Setup comprehensive database monitoring systems and alerting
- Manage database upgrades and version transitions
- Support operational maintenance tasks and troubleshooting
- Track and resolve database-related issues using Jira
- Perform regular database health checks and performance analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWS database services (RDS, Aurora, Redshift)
- Experience with monitoring tools like CloudWatch, Dynatrace, Grafana, or pgBadger
- Advanced SQL development skills
- Database modeling and normalization techniques
- Database performance tuning and query optimization techniques
- Understanding of high availability and disaster recovery strategies
- Knowledge of data governance and security best practices
- Experience with database high availability and disaster recovery strategies
- Experience with automation tools for database administration tasks
- Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar
- Strong O&M (Operations & Maintenance) background, including database upgrades
- Background in agile development environments
- Experience with JIRA Ticketing systems preferred
- Experience with DevOps and Agile methodologies
- Proficiency in AWS data warehouse solutions (Redshift, RDS)
- Experience designing and implementing data reporting solutions
- Proven experience with database design and Entity-Relationship Diagrams (ERD)
- Experience with ETL processes and data migration from Oracle to PostgreSQL
- Proficiency with PostgreSQL table partitioning techniques and optimization strategies
- Experience with Jira for project tracking and documentation
- Ability to set up comprehensive database monitoring solutions, writing custom monitoring queries and scripts
- Ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries
- Familiarity with Jira for issue tracking and project management
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
