Requirements
- Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
- Machine Learning: Knowledge of principles, technologies and algorithms of machine learning; ability to develop, implement and deliver related systems, products and services.
- Query and Database Access Tools: Knowledge of data management systems; ability to use, support and access facilities for searching, extracting and formatting data for further use.
Responsibilities
- Analytics-based research supporting project teams
- Using programming languages such as Python, R, SAS, SQL, and/or Dataiku and apply machine learning models to research solutions to business problems
- Statistical modeling and analysis of Caterpillar and dealer parts demand & inventory
- Improvement of existing and development of new inventory optimization techniques
- Execution and analysis of inventory management simulations
- Creation of PowerBI dashboards for reporting and exploratory analysis
- Ad-hoc data analysis, data processing, and data visualization
- Developing/refining large-scale solutions to fit complex situations in multiple unique environments
- Building familiarity with Inventory Management system functionality and parts management practices
- Effective communication of complex concepts and solutions to stakeholders & internal customers
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Analytics, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Industrial Engineering with quantitative and technically challenging coursework
- Knowledge of basic statistical approaches and/or data management techniques
- Experience with analytical and statistical modeling and analysis tools like Python, R, SAS, and/or SQL
- Experience with data visualization and analytical software like Power BI or Tableau
- Demonstrated experience working in MS Office Suite of programs
- Experience utilizing quantitative analysis
- Experience in machine learning models and/or deep learning (AI) using tools like Python, R, and/or Dataiku
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively verbally with digital media and concepts using data visualization
- Experience in automation tools such as Power Automate or Excel VBA
- Enthusiasm for big data processing, research, analytics, and problem solving
- Previous inventory management background and knowledge
- Demonstrates teamwork, initiative, and interpersonal skills
- Highly proficient written and verbal communication skills
