Requirements

  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Machine Learning: Knowledge of principles, technologies and algorithms of machine learning; ability to develop, implement and deliver related systems, products and services.
  • Query and Database Access Tools: Knowledge of data management systems; ability to use, support and access facilities for searching, extracting and formatting data for further use.

Responsibilities

  • Analytics-based research supporting project teams
  • Using programming languages such as Python, R, SAS, SQL, and/or Dataiku and apply machine learning models to research solutions to business problems
  • Statistical modeling and analysis of Caterpillar and dealer parts demand & inventory
  • Improvement of existing and development of new inventory optimization techniques
  • Execution and analysis of inventory management simulations
  • Creation of PowerBI dashboards for reporting and exploratory analysis
  • Ad-hoc data analysis, data processing, and data visualization
  • Developing/refining large-scale solutions to fit complex situations in multiple unique environments
  • Building familiarity with Inventory Management system functionality and parts management practices
  • Effective communication of complex concepts and solutions to stakeholders & internal customers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Analytics, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Industrial Engineering with quantitative and technically challenging coursework
  • Knowledge of basic statistical approaches and/or data management techniques
  • Experience with analytical and statistical modeling and analysis tools like Python, R, SAS, and/or SQL
  • Experience with data visualization and analytical software like Power BI or Tableau
  • Demonstrated experience working in MS Office Suite of programs
  • Experience utilizing quantitative analysis
  • Experience in machine learning models and/or deep learning (AI) using tools like Python, R, and/or Dataiku
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively verbally with digital media and concepts using data visualization
  • Experience in automation tools such as Power Automate or Excel VBA
  • Enthusiasm for big data processing, research, analytics, and problem solving
  • Previous inventory management background and knowledge
  • Demonstrates teamwork, initiative, and interpersonal skills
  • Highly proficient written and verbal communication skills
