Requirements

  • Excellent analytical skills and the capability to validate and challenge data solutions
  • In-depth knowledge of global regulations pertaining to Data Risk, preferably including BCBS-239, ‘Principles for effective risk data aggregation and risk reporting’ (The RDARR Principles)
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to develop digestible and well-flowing narratives out of highly complex, technical concepts and achievements
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, including flexibility and adaptability to change
  • Capacity to multitask across disparate workstreams while remaining detail-oriented
  • Bachelor’s Degree or 4 additional years of work history
  • 6 or more years of Risk and Data experience, including audit/regulatory response writing

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and document the progress and completion of the most complex Enterprise-wide initiatives pertaining to Data Risk and its respective regulatory requirements
  • Compose remediation closing packages to ensure evidence is successfully captured for internal audiences, including Audit and various committees of Northern Trust’s Board of Directors, as well as external regulatory audiences, such as the Federal Reserve Board (FRB)
  • Leverage strong relationship management skills, ensuring key stakeholders are compliant to various Policies and Standards pertaining to Data and leveraging expertise
  • Liaise between Data/Technology teams and various internal Quality Control and Audit entities, ensuring technical expertise and accomplishments are successfully communicated, evidenced, and comprehensible to non-specialist stakeholders and third parties
  • Operate flexibly within multi-year, Enterprise-wide project plans at the Capability, Milestone, and Task level, ensuring evidencing deadlines are met to a high degree of quality
  • Challenge, when appropriate, approaches taken regarding Data Risk and remediations
  • Travel, approximately twice a year, to internal committees and forums, and potentially industry conferences, to build relationships, identify emerging data risks for Northern Trust, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations and industry best practices
  • Build (and potentially deliver) presentations to C-Suite audiences pertaining to the above
