Data Governance Manager

8+ years of experience in data governance, data analysis, or a related field.
Strong understanding of data governance principles and best practices.
Experience in defining and documenting KPIs and metrics.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to facilitate meetings and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to read and write SQL and data models while influencing best practices.
Familiarity with data privacy and security regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA).
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Information Management, Data Science, or a related discipline.

Design, develop, and maintain a holistic company-wide KPI library.
Define standard company definitions for all KPIs across departments.
Document calculations and code-based logic used to generate KPIs.
Document upstream dependencies from source systems and operational procedures.
Establish and monitor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for data quality and availability.
Map a hierarchy of KPIs across the organization, from the CEO down to operational teams in each department.
Categorize KPIs as primary, secondary, and tertiary.
Identify and document underlying supporting metrics, including leading and lagging indicators.
Establish and facilitate data governance committees with representation from each department.
Develop and implement a formal intake process for reviewing and approving requests to change or enhance KPIs.
Manage the communication and coordination of KPI changes with Data Engineering and Analytics Engineering teams.
Help drive Certification for Certified Data Assets.
Partner with the Data Security function and team to ensure data compliance with relevant regulations.
