Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Knowledge of data center infrastructure, networking, and IT hardware.
  • Familiarity with operating systems (Windows/Linux) and virtualization technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a team to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Good understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, firewalls).

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, storage devices, and network equipment.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting for hardware and network issues and collaborate with senior technical team members to resolve complex problems.
  • Monitor and manage data center infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
  • Assist with routine data center operations, including installing NIC cards, modifying cabling, and replacing memory and hard drives.
  • Assist in cabling, racking, and decommissioning of IT equipment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of data center assets, cabling diagrams, and system configurations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry best practices for security, energy efficiency, and safety.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support IT projects, migrations, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Respond to technical incidents and support requests in a timely manner.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and support after-hours maintenance activities when required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and on short notice.
  • Occasional travel to data centers in Chicago, NJ, and potentially other locations.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, CCNA, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals.
  • Experience with monitoring tools, ticketing systems, and IT service management (ITSM) processes.
  • Understanding of cloud computing (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid environments.
