Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management and Insurance, Finance, Education, or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Generally, a minimum of 9 years of experience in Underwriting, Product Management, or Technical Training, including a minimum of 4 years of leadership experience.
- Continuing progress toward and/or the completion of a professional designation preferred, such as Associate in Underwriting (AU), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Program in General Insurance (INS), Associate of Risk Management (ARM) and/or continuing education as a professional trainer (Certified Trainer, Train-the-Trainer, etc.)
Responsibilities
- Oversees the strategic planning and execution of technical training programs to meet the underwriting team’s evolving needs, with an emphasis on product-specific expertise.
- Analyzes underwriting practices and procedures; makes recommendations for best practices. Establishes Standard Operating Procedures for the department.
- Manages Quality controls, provides oversight to internal processes, and ensures department is complying with SOX controls/certifications.
- Establishes metrics and evaluation of underwriters’ workload, adherence to national processing expectations and established KRAs. Refines strategies based on data-driven insights for continuous improvement.
- Provides feedback and coaching to underwriters and team members, fostering professional growth and measurable performance enhancements.
- Collaborates with underwriting leadership, product development teams, and other cross-functional stakeholders to align training priorities with organizational goals.
- Facilitates effective communication of procedural changes to ensure consistent team understanding and adoption.
- Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
