Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required
- Minimum four (4) years’ experience as a Data Center Technician or nine (9) years equivalent experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing or carpentry
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license
- Successful completion of the Construction and Skilled Trades test (CAST) is required
- Familiarity with software tools used for monitoring and controlling mechanical systems (Building Automation Systems (BAS), Power Monitoring Expert (PME) etc.)
- Ability to diagnose and resolve issues in mechanical and automated systems
- Basic understanding of electrical systems and circuits related to data center operations
- Must be a licensed electrician, a licensed HVAC technician, have a CFC refrigerant certification or have relevant proven knowledge and have performed required duties
- Demonstrated ability to plan black starts and other maintenance outage work
- Experience in developing/writing business continuity plans
Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct non-exempt supervisors, Data Center Maintenance Technicians and senior level employees and/or contractors
- Plan and schedule maintenance of all described facilities
- Lead and direct all data center maintenance Technicians to perform preventative/predictive maintenance
- Ensure the root cause of facility problems are identified and repaired quickly
- Lead the maintenance and scheduling of the electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment
- Manage and lead the work of, communicate effectively with, and/or assist others, including contractors
- Oversee completion of daily inspections of all data center infrastructure equipment
- Ensure Computerized Maintenance Management System data accuracy
- Plan for annual critical facility black starts and other maintenance that needs planned outage
- Work with management and employees to develop and communicate Data Center processes and guidelines
- Initiate and coordinate updates to critical Business Continuity and Emergency Response Plans
- Audit compliance and remediation as assigned
- Schedule employees work including rotating schedules, weekend work and night shifts
- Identify, prioritize and make recommendations on issues that must be addressed to maintain safe, continuous critical operations
- Lead Data Center Maintenance Technicians’ teams in skill development
- Promote and enforce the company’s Safety and Health policies
Preferred Qualifications
- CRAC technical training / certification from the OEM equipment manufacture along with UPS system training / certification from the OEM manufactures preferred
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills
