Requirements
- A valid drivers license issued by the Division of Motor Vehicles
- National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians-Basic (NREMT-Basic) certification
- Critical Care Paramedic Certified (CCP-C) certification
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Paramedic issued by the State of Wisconsin and State of Michigan needs to be obtained within 30 days
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification
- CPR/AED for professional rescuers and health care providers certification
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in Emergency Medical Services
- Typically requires 1 year of experience in a paramedic role or appropriate related clinical experience
- Must possess and maintain a clean driving record
- Basic computer skills and ability to work with electronic health record (HER) systems
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with physicians, staff, patients and their families
- Must maintain skill and certification as required by regulation and organization
- Ability to effectively manage time and priorities
- High level of attention to detail
Responsibilities
- Provides basic, advanced, and critical care of the ambulance patient
- Administers critical care level treatments such as ventilator management and blood product administration
- Oversees the overall patient care and manages CCT-level interventions when working with a Paramedic partner
- Operates ambulance vehicles using safe driving practice
- Performs quality control checks of ambulance equipment and vehicles
- Maintains cleanliness of equipment, work area, and vehicles following department safety policies
- Monitors equipment and troubleshoots minor problems
- Communicates and delegates effectively in the field
- Ensures prompt, accurate documentation of patient incidents
- Maintains accountability of all medications and accurately documents use, waste, and custody of medications
- Under the direction of the RN, provides assistance in emergencies, prepares and administers medications
- Collaborates with physicians to support communications required to facilitate patient care
- Coordinates and facilitates all forms of communications
- Processes daily patient charges and/or related procedure through the electronic health record (EHR)
- Supports and reinforces RN/physician and patient/family teaching
- Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties
