Requirements
- Minimum 10 years experience in banking with a focus on origination and distribution roles.
- Minimum 5 years experience structuring, negotiating, and executing credit documentation and Credit Insurance policies.
- Existing relationships with brokers, Insurers and managing general agents preferred.
- Knowledge of Bank capital rules and regulations.
- Experience with traded credit products including Bonds, Loans and CDS preferred, including understanding of pricing dynamics and relative value.
- Familiarity with Wholesale and Investment Banking products as well as structured credit solutions.
- Well-developed credit analysis skills, including financial and capital structure analysis.
- Bachelor’s degree (Finance preferred) with strong analytic and modeling skills with proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication and partnership skills.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for leading MUFG’s Credit Insurance (CI) efforts and managing existing portfolio ($2.0bn+) of coverage with a goal of efficient risk mitigation and the growth of profitable new origination.
- Serve as MUFG’s subject matter expert for CI in the Americas.
- Manage relationships with CI counterparties including brokers, insurance companies, managing general agencies and law firms.
- Structure and negotiate CI policy terms to ensure appropriate coverage of the underlying transaction and obtain the most favorable commercial terms for the bank. Ensure compliance with Basel rules governing regulatory capital relief.
- As appropriate, work with MUFG clients, origination, and legal teams to appropriately structure the underlying transaction to ensure successful syndication to the insurance market.
- Syndicate/sell various structures/credits (e.g. Corp, PF, SCF, CSTF, Aviation) to the credit insurance market.
- Manage CI related operations including documentation, booking, invoicing, amendments, RWA relief, counterparty limits and premium payments through oversight & guidance of other team members.
- Serve as primary point of contact for IB businesses focused on exposure management activities. Advise on most efficient tool (CI, CDS, Loan Sales/Participations) and strategy, considering factors such as cost, liquidity, and capital impact.
- Participate in various ad-hoc projects including portfolio analysis and periodic reporting to senior management.
