Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- At least three (3) or more years of responsible experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to three (3) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
Responsibilities
- Entry of complex cases and assisting with various civil and family law filings
- Contacting parties, attorneys, and law enforcement to ensure all required documents and fees have been submitted
- Preparing and distributing notices and copies of court documents
- Reviewing and approving documents for judicial signature according to set guidelines
- Notifying the judicial officer of any missing required elements to the judgment or order
- Assisting self-represented litigants and attorneys on the phone and in-person with questions on policy and procedure based on established guidelines
- Monitoring reports and tracking pending cases to take appropriate action
- Monitoring other reports associated with the timely disposition or data entry accuracy of cases
- Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using software programs to access and input information to track cases (or similar equivalent) and review entries to gain understanding of where a case might be in its life and what needs to happen next
- Experience learning complicated tasks quickly and immediately putting training to use with high stakes if errors are made
- Skill responding tactfully and professionally, both verbally and in writing, to customers or clients who are facing challenging life circumstances or stressful situations
- Ability to identify and problem-solve complex issues within your daily workload
- Skill in attention to detail, to include experience reviewing documents to ensure requirements are met before accepting documents or advancing a case (or similar equivalent) to the next stage or step in process
- Family Law experience preferred, but not required.
