Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- One year of professional or technical administrative experience in business or public administration or in correctional records management or social casework
- Equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable
- Technical administrative experience must include highly complex clerical work under the supervision of a professional supervisor or manager.
Responsibilities
- Maintains a consolidated record card, legal file and computer record system for offenders
- Calculates time served and credits earned and distributes a monthly report to offenders
- Monitors discharges and rebills of sentences
- Audits offender files for accuracy
- Reviews and handles all legal mail
- Processes all offender transfers, receptions, discharges, paroles and sentence rebills
- Contacts law enforcement agencies, court officials, private attorneys, and others for information
- Prepares extradition paperwork and processes Interstate Agreement of Detainers paperwork
- Testifies in court regarding records related matters
- Provides supervision to clerical support staff
- Performs audits of offender time credits
- Provides records management training to departmental and private prison personnel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with the criminal justice system
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
