Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
  • 5 years of professional experience in communications, marketing, or related field.
  • Experience creating graphics based on templates following brand guidelines.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, work within budget, and collaborate with a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general, everyday communications and marketing services to assist the Offices of Academic Affairs, Faculty Affairs and other core EVPP offices.
  • Support a variety of programmatic campaigns, announcements, and regular day-to-day dissemination of information.
  • Duties include developing written content for a variety of channels, meeting with various stakeholders to assess upcoming needs and priorities, developing integrated communications plans, and managing promotional calendars.
  • Drafts general website content.
  • Manage creative assets for the programs within the Provost’s Office core portfolio through basic graphic design (Adobe Creative Suite and Canva) or collaborate with UMAC’s brand and creative team on large-scale graphic design projects.
  • Serve as liaison between UMAC and the Provost’s Office for larger design projects.
  • Coordinate the production and purchasing of creative marketing deliverables for signature EVPP events and initiatives, such as Reading Round-Up, the Harrington Fellows Program, New Faculty Launch, Undergraduate Research, Vick Advising Center, Sanger Learner Center, Career Success and Faculty Development.
  • Assist with project management for the Provost’s Office Communications team, using Asana to help the team stay on top of milestones and deadlines, set goals, track progress, and adjust plans as needed.
  • Ensure alignment of communication efforts with institutional priorities and timelines.
  • Other related functions as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a university or academic setting.
  • Experience using Canva is a plus.
  • Fluency in Adobe CC, Keynote a plus.
  • Intermediate experience using Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience using project management systems (Asana).
  • Knowledge of content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal) is a plus.
  • Experience collaborating with creative teams and external vendors.
