Requirements

  • A college diploma in a relevant field such as building estimation and evaluation technology, civil engineering technology, architecture, or building mechanics
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Certified member of the Ordre des Évaluateurs Agréés du Québec
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience using databases and municipal websites for research
  • Solid understanding of construction techniques and reading blueprints/specs

Responsibilities

  • Maintain property records, primarily for industrial buildings
  • Inspect industrial properties across Quebec to gather data
  • Analyze properties listed on the assessment roll and validate cost method parameters
  • Identify elements that may be excluded from the roll under tax law
  • Gather relevant information about building and land value
  • Compile and verify construction cost data as specified by the evaluator
  • Help calculate building costs using current rates and factors
  • Collect real estate market data

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of the cost method for industrial buildings
  • Familiarity with the Québec Property Assessment Manual
  • Knowledge of the Marshall & Swift manual
  • Basic understanding of municipal tax law and related regulations
  • Experience inspecting industrial buildings is an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent command of French and functional English (spoken and written) – bilingualism is a plus
