Requirements

  • Eligibility to work in Canada.
  • Postgraduate degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in Geology, Geochemistry, Mineralogy, or related field. Or equivalent experience.
  • Existing designation or eligibility for designation as a Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) would be considered a strong asset.
  • Strong geological, mineralogical, and geochemical knowledge of orebodies and associated mineralization, alteration, and oxidation processes, preferably in multiple commodities (gold, copper, nickel, base metals, etc.).
  • Advanced skills in geoscientific data analysis in a mineral exploration and mining context.
  • Experience with unsupervised and supervised machine learning and ability to code and complete statistical analyses and data visualization with Python and/or R.
  • Ability to collaborate and function as part of a team engaged on large multi-disciplinary projects, as well as being able to work independently.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform project delivery activities such as data and literature review, geochemical data analysis and material characterization, performing regression analyses, data visualization, writing sections of technical reports, and presentation of results to clients.
  • Deliver project work within client’s scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
  • Collaborate with consulting staff in mineral resource estimation, environmental geochemistry, mining engineering, and mineral processing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in mineral exploration, mining operations, mineral processing, and/or reconciliation would be an asset.
  • Experience using specialist geological software programs such as Leapfrog Geo and IMDEX ioGAS would be an asset.
  • An interest in contributing to thought leadership in geometallurgy and orebody knowledge and building strong network links across academic and economic geoscience communities.
