Requirements

  • Experience in ground up multi-unit housing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience leading construction crews as a foreman, Field Engineer, Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent. Knowledge and understanding of running a minimum of 1 to 4 trade contractors and crew sizes up to 20 people, preferred.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
  • The following trainings are required (and provided by Wolverine):
  • OSHA 30-Hour certified or completed within six months of hire.
  • First Aid and CPR
  • Heavy machine operator card, rigging awareness, asbestos awareness, and aerial work platform operator training.

Responsibilities

  • Attends internal kickoff meeting with the project team two weeks before project start to ensure clear communication.
  • Reviews project details with the Project Manager (PM) and supervisor, including contracts, as-built drawings, and schedule.
  • Sets up the job site and temporary office following company procedures.
  • Conducts pre-start meetings with each subcontractor’s crew to review scope, schedule, and work expectations.
  • Coordinates delivery and staging of supplies, managing materials with long lead times.
  • Manages and schedules trade partner work, coordinating with foremen and other trades.
  • Updates and distributes the weekly look-ahead schedule with detailed sequencing for the next 2-4 weeks.
  • Co-conducts progress meetings with the PM, owner, and subcontractors to review job status, safety, and upcoming work.
  • Records daily work activities in the log, including completed work, photographs, documentation, and time for Wolverine employees in Procore.
  • Performs quality control on work in progress and completed work.
  • Holds subcontractors accountable for performing their scope of work safely.
  • Identifies solutions to issues and communicates with the proper trades, reporting back to the PM.
  • Resolves disputes between subcontractors.
  • Coordinates inspections for materials, building, soils, and engineering.
  • Champions safety, demonstrating a Safety-First approach from logistics planning through project completion.
  • Monitors the safety environment per the Site-Specific Safety Plan, WBG Safety Manual, and MIOSHA requirements, holding trade partners accountable.
  • Works with the PM to close out the project, coordinating demobilization and ensuring a punch list with zero remaining items.
  • Tracks company “lessons learned” and shares client evaluations with the team.
  • Manages client expectations with the project management team to generate repeat business.
  • Holds all team members accountable for safety logistics, means, and methods.
  • Coordinates with the PM on scope changes.
  • Promotes pride and integrity in the project team through community commitment and quality work.
  • Acts as an ambassador for company values and ethical standards, with a focus on safety.
  • Coaches and develops staff, including Assistant Superintendents and skilled workers.
  • Maintains effective communication with internal and external project teams, trade partners, and clients.
  • Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
