Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, liberal arts or communication, or related discipline
- Five (5) years’ experience in marketing, content development, and project coordination
- Intermediate level of proficiency in MS Office
- Basic understanding of web standards and graphic design software
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in marketing, journalism, business administration, liberal arts or related major
- Minimum seven (7) years’ experience in brand marketing, creative design, and various marketing campaigns inclusive of analytics for effectiveness
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Proficient in word processing, desktop publishing, electronic communication, and Internet applications
- Experience with various print media (e.g. magazine, newspaper, company brochures, etc.), social or electronic media (Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft Outlook)
- Strong understanding of performance measurement methodology and technology (e.g., Google Analytics, campaign measurement, etc.)
Responsibilities
- Create, deliver, edit, and optimize marketing materials and energy education content according to plan and schedule
- Participate on cross-functional teams to create and deliver marketing content in alignment with industry best practices
- Interface, coordinate and collaborate with third party marketing firms to develop and deliver marketing materials, including customer facing websites and online portals
- Conduct usability testing for energy efficiency tools developed by a third party to ensure functionality and an effective customer experience
- Coordinate social media outreach and e-mail campaigns to promote energy efficiency products to operating company customers
- Conduct analysis of operating company customers to determine market segmentation to determine targeted customers for various energy efficiency products
- Establish key performance indicators to analyze performance of energy efficiency marketing initiatives and communicate with energy efficiency coordinators
- Ensure that all assigned marketing initiatives are completed within the allocated budget and consistent with program schedules
- Develop and deliver a marketing strategy and capability according to American Electric Power (AEP) and Operating Company business plans
- Provide creative direction to internal and agency partners, oversee graphic design, writing, editing, proofreading and other marketing communication functions to deliver marketing material and collateral on time and within budget
- Partner with Corporate Communications to produce energy efficiency related messages through AEP Today, AEP Vision, AEP Now, company bulletin boards, and other company sponsored communication vehicles
- Manage social media channels where applicable in collaboration with Corporate Communications
- Research and analyze marketing campaigns to determine effectiveness and provide actionable recommendations to increase overall marketing strategy umbrella
- Assist with the creation of electronic messages, slides, overheads, videos, handouts, electronic media, talking points or other material required to communicate key messages or initiatives to AEP senior management, employees, customers or other clients
- Review and evaluate online advertising opportunities for their benefit to the Operating Company and its customers
- Develop and deliver regular reports to identify trends, key drivers of performance and optimize results
- Execute and streamline marketing workflows through operations management, process development, integrating multiple systems and technology applications in alignment with stakeholders in IT, Web Services, Regulatory, other departments and vendors
- Support budget development for assigned projects and manage allocated funds with staff and vendors
