Requirements

  • BS degree in Color Science, Physics, Optics or related field required with MS or PhD degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in color theory and its practical application within manufacturing environments.
  • Minimum of 10 years experimental manipulation background to identify issues, develop relationships and validate results using process/product variables in relation to visual or optical measurement responses, and to interpret, analyze and apply numerical color and appearance measurement.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in color matching processes.
  • Proficiency in data retrieval and manipulation plus commonly used programming and scripting languages for data analytics (Python, Matlab, R, etc.) and database querying (SQL, Tableau).
  • Effective project management and execution skills.
  • Ability to work and influence collaboratively and effectively within a global and diverse population.
  • Excellent communication skills to understand and document customer requirements and to effectively convey recommendations to internal customers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize color matching protocols, conduct hands-on analyses to identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions to enhance color consistency and accuracy using Axalta’s state of the art color matching toolbox.
  • Database management pertaining to color matching, coating production and retrieval processes.
  • Rely on Data analytics related to optical measurement, empirical modeling, algorithm development, data science, and color imaging to support Axalta’s color development labs and continuously improve its color systems and tools.
  • Network with global business, Marketing, Manufacturing, Technology, and Information Technology personnel and participate in global color management meetings.
  • Promote collaborative efforts in developing and delivering projects that align with R&D, Engineering, and customer requirements, leveraging in-house and new technology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with measurement hardware systems and data management software applications desired.
  • Experience with theoretical and empirical modeling, statistics, computer systems development and process control.
