Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Industrial, or a related engineering field preferred or equivalent work experience will be considered.
- Minimum 3-7 years’ experience in a manufacturing and/or design environment.
- Proven experience involved with design & compliance projects related to windows and doors.
- In depth knowledge of building codes IBC, UBC, etc.
- Knowledge of regional code demands – Fire, Wind load, sound transmittance, etc.
- Ability to read structural and architectural plans/blueprints.
- Strong understanding of architectural principles, window and door compliance, and fenestration systems.
- Experience in assuring product compliance with regulatory requirements, and knowledge of product development and manufacturing.
- Conveys information, including complex technical requirements in clear terms to people of various backgrounds.
- Strong leadership skills, ability to educate and influence others.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – frequent use of Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Responsibilities
- Test, and certify new and existing window and door products, ensuring alignment with company objectives and industry standards.
- Document and publish to LUX website technical data sheets and installation instructions for windows and doors.
- Ensure new and existing products are fully certified under AAMA and NFRC through efforts with third-party regulatory bodies (ALI, NAMI) and are up to date and current on FGIA approved products website.
- Facilitate prototype product development and laboratory testing of windows and doors.
- Interpret test reports for Air, Water, & Structural performance as well as Thermal Performance.
- Liaison with subject-matter experts on building codes & architectural techniques to interpret regulatory requirements and ensure customer & supplier compliance for building components.
- Collaborate with plant-level production to integrate new materials and products into existing window and door production facilities.
- Stays abreast with changes to regulatory and agency requirements, and recommend actions required to maintain compliance of active products.
- Audit AAMA compliance at window and door facilities and then create & document corrective actions to remain compliant and current with requirements.
- Assists the engineering department in resolving product issues or production difficulties.
- Participates in compliance trade shows and conferences.
- Other duties as assigned.
