Requirements
- RN Licensure or CST Certification
- Associate’s degree in nursing, science fields, or other related field, required
- 3 – 5 years of acute operating room experience as a certified surgical technician or registered nurse across multiple service lines, required
- 3 -5 years experience with physician procedure cards; operating room related billing, card maintenance, scheduling, and/or auditing, required
- Graduate of a surgical technology program or equivalent experience/training, required
Responsibilities
- Drives the AORN ‘7-step procedure card management process’ that improves patient safety, clinician/physician satisfaction, perioperative efficiency, and labor savings, decreasing waste and returns.
- Acts as the gatekeeper to ensure procedure card standardization/maintenance best practices are followed.
- Reduces the number of cards, un-credentialed physicians, and/or errors related to equipment, instruments, positioning devices, and supplies, so the card content is held within the system Procedure Card Services standards.
- Maintains, standardizes, and analyzes effective operating room procedure card business processes.
- Supports the timely coordination of card updates as approved by service line leadership.
- Utilizes real-time quality assurance tool for easy revision/tracking of cards, providing high transparency and responsiveness to physicians and caregivers.
- Develops and tracks open procedure card related Hub Tickets through completion.
- Serves as a liaison for procedure card process and maintenance requiring IT OpTime support.
- Leads site training for procedure card business processes.
- Monitors annual Health Stream learning modules for site caregivers performing procedure card maintenance work.
- Frequently monitors and analyzes data utilizing IH’s Procedure card Services Content Universe to measure procedure card clinical data integrity, standardization opportunities, labor productivity, and working capital impacts.
- Participates in annual physician examination of top cards comparing peer standardization opportunities.
- Facilitates quarterly reviews with service line leadership and Procedure Card Services management to track progress and provide updates on internal processes.
