Requirements

• Must be proficient in applying the nursing process to all areas of practice
• Must be able to establish a patient plan of care and provide patient education related to the patient’s condition, therapeutic regimen, and self-care measures
• Must be able to provide care according to patient needs and perform specialized nursing care procedures as outlined in department/unit specific competency profiles
• Must adhere to regulatory compliance standards
• Must actively participate in performance improvement initiatives positively affecting quality and safety

Responsibilities

• Manage and provide care to the patient and his/her family
• Direct and supervise nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team
• Assess, plan, implement, coordinate, delegate, and evaluate the nursing care of patients
• Enhance patient experience with high value care
• Respond to urgent situations and assume an active role to enhance emergency care needed for positive patient outcomes
• Promote a safe, positive, and healthy work environment
• Participate in evidence-based practice and/or nursing research through clinical inquiry to improve care
• Encourage patients to be active participants in their care
