Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer license
- Minimum 6 years of progressive experience of engineering design in an engineering firm
Responsibilities
- Assisting Project Managers with detailed engineering analysis in the preparation of engineering reports, permit applications and construction plan preparation
- Directing and training Civil Design Technicians and/or Civil Designers
- Independently evaluating, planning and conducting work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation/modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria
- Devising new alternatives/approaches to problems encountered
- Performing difficult and technically challenging work with a specialty area
- Exercising project leadership in a technical or managerial way on certain projects or overseeing portions of large projects
- Drafting procedures and system requirements of clients
- Using various design software
- Coordinating municipal, transportation, traffic and other disciplines
- Completing permit applications for a variety of municipalities
- Conducting flexible pavement design and rigid pavement design
- Designing geometric pavement and site circulation
- Preparing specifications & cost estimates
- Conducting traffic warrants and guardrail warrants
- Interpreting state and local design criteria and applying it to specific project needs
- Directing and training Civil Designers to assist in completing reports, exhibits, plans and specifications and permit applications as required by the projects contractual scope
- Producing high quality construction documents
